Casino Game Disputes

Most people go to their local gaming establishments to play their favorite games, have some fun and (hopefully) take home some extra cash. However, instead of searching for the ever-elusive Lady Luck, some players visit the casino looking for one thing that is never in short supply when money, excitement, and alcohol come together: trouble.

Here are some instances where gaming fun turned into scary situations:

November 2009. Former college and pro basketball coach Tim Floyd visited the Morongo Casino in California. In his years as a coach, he has had numerous experiences with referees; during his casino visit, he finally go the chance to become one. Floyd helped to break up a fight between two female customers, one of whom tried to hit the other with a chair.

April 2003. Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx and his younger sister came to the Harrah’s New Orleans casino in Louisiana. Foxx, his sister and their friends refused to show their identification cards to security guards at the door and directed foul language at casino staff. When they walked past the guards, they were escorted off the property. During the melee, Foxx’s sister swung and hit a police officer with a loose handcuff.

April 2002. Two rival motorcycle gangs encountered each other at a casino in Laughlin, Nevada; they weren’t there for a friendly poker game. The Hells Angels and the Mongols, two longtime bitter enemy biker gangs, exchanged gunfire across the casino floor, killing three and injuring twelve.

June 1997. When Las Vegas casinos host heavyweight boxing matches, the fights usually stay in the ring…except if one of the fighters is the infamous Mike Tyson. When the referee stopped the fight after Tyson bit off a chunk of Evander Holyfield’s ear, the fans in attendance started to riot. The bedlam carried over onto the MGM Grand casino floor, where witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing thieves stealing cash and chips.
